The effectiveness of flossing depends on the type of floss used. Glide floss is easier to maneuver for very tight teeth. Thicker or braided floss is better for more spacing. Those with larger gaps may benefit from doubling up floss strands.

They use a stream of water to clean along the gumline and between teeth. However, they do not replace string floss, which is still necessary for breaking up plaque and food particles between teeth.
